What does it feel like?
Both Lutea™ and Nettle™ use your brain’s own signals to regulate neural (or brain) activity in the areas of your brain responsible for pain perception and mood regulation.
Because of this, each person will experience sensations slightly differently, but most people across 100,000+ sessions have found that sessions are painless, mildly uncomfortable at most, and highly tolerable compared to alternatives.
As you begin using the device, while it’s working on activating your neuroplasticity you may feel some tingling or itching on your scalp. These sensations, medically termed - paraesthesia, may be experienced on the skin beneath the sites of the electrodes.
Although they may initially feel a little bit unfamiliar and thus, unpleasant, they are harmless, and transient and are commonly experienced with this type of therapy.
It’s important to note that the reason you feel this tingling or itching sensation is because of your skin sensitivity, rather than your brain’s reaction to the stimulation - which is why each person’s skin responds differently.
While some discomfort may occur, it is important to understand that these sensations are part of your body's adjustment process to the therapy and often indicate that the treatment is working as intended. Itching and tingling sensations usually go away within the first 5 minutes of your session, and usually get better over time.
If you find that the itching is rather uncomfortable at the beginning of your session, it’s recommended that you ensure that your device is correctly positioned, as improper placement can lead to unpleasant sensations or ineffective treatment results.
You may also want to try readjusting your device's position on your head. Sometimes a slight change by moving it back and forth on your head can alleviate the pressure points and reduce any sensations of discomfort. Also, you may consider hydrating sponges a bit more, to reduce the potential discomfort.
If you find that none of the above suggestions alleviate your discomfort, it may be beneficial to pause the session and take a break. Allow your body time to rest before resuming the session. Keep in mind that your device will automatically power off after 5 minutes, so be sure to return within that time frame to avoid needing to restart the session from the beginning.
Lastly, if you continue to experience significant discomfort or adverse reactions to menstrual neuromodulation therapy, you must contact a healthcare professional.
Like any treatment or therapy, it's essential to use both Lutea™ and Nettle™ in line with their guidelines. By adhering properly to the instruction from use and seeking guidance from healthcare professionals (if needed), you can optimise your experience and maximise the benefits that you experience.
